How did you get into film? What particularly attracted you to become part of this industry?

My approach to film stems from a pure enthusiasm for the medium and the desire to create my own worlds. During my youth, the first digital SLR cameras with integrated film mode came onto the market. ‚Cinematic‘ images were suddenly financially affordable. With my savings, I bought a Canon 500D and just started shooting. Stop-motion, feature and experimental film. Everything was tried out, together with friends. So my socialisation as a filmmaker was born in a hobby/DIY environment. To this day, I find that I have had some of my most enjoyable film experiences during that time. Therefore, certain DIY aspects are still a cornerstone of my film understanding and drive. Without these previous experiences, my debut film ‚Eva-Maria‘ would not have been realisable in the first place.

However, I didn’t see myself as part of the industry for a long time. My work seemed too solitary to me and it was never the primary drive. Only since the post-production of ‚Eva-Maria‘, i.e. since 2020, have I had the impression of being part of the industry.

What distinguishes Tirol as film region for you?

Lots of untapped potential.

We are curious: Tell us your favourite location in Tirol!

The forest near Barwies (Obermieming). A very untypical and mysterious atmosphere for a Tyrolean forest.

And now: The stage is yours! Please introduce yourself and your field of activity.

*1991 in Innsbruck

2013-2017 Studied film and television directing at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF.

DIY thespian with hands-on expertise in screenwriting, directing and editing.

Border crosser between feature, documentary and experimental film.

Very methodical. An idea is only good if it also has a function.

Loves experimentation, but has great respect for the qualities of traditional narrative practices. Somehow everything is a three-act play.
