Shooting for the Indian action film "Tiger Zinda Hai" began in mid-March in Tirol.

Filming hast been scheduled for 16 days in Innsbruck and its Holiday Villages (Praxmar/Sellrain, Lüsens, Obsteig, Kühtai), in Kaunertal Valley and in Hall in Tirol. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are going to reunite for the movie, starring Agent Tiger and his wife Zoya in the winter wonderland of Tirol´s mountains. Austria, Tirol and its capital Innsbruck are said to be named in the film. „Tiger Zinda Hai“ brings back Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif to Tirol after ten years, when they were shooting here for „Yuvvraaj“, an Indian Hindi Bollywood film directed and produced by Subhash Ghai in 2007.

„Tiger Zinda Hai“ from Yash Raj Films (which translates to „Tiger Is Alive“) is a sequel to the 2012 blockbuster hit „Ek Tha Tiger“ (which translates to „Once There Was A Tiger“), a gripping action film with the world of espionage as a backdrop and romance at its core. After shooting for „Tiger Zinda Hai“ in the Austrian Tirol, the cast and crew are expected to travel to a number of other picturesque international locations, including India, Abu Dhabi and Morocco. In addition to 100 international crew members from Bollywood and Hollywood, the film team also comprises more than 70 Austrians. The movie is slated for a 2017 Christmas release in India and will be screened worldwide afterwards.

Yash Raj Films, one of India´s biggest and most successful entertainment companies with headquarters in Mumbai will produces the film. The shoot for „Tiger Zinda Hai“ began with a song in the amazing locales of Tirol/Austria, known for its snow-capped mountains and small, quaint villages. The crew also plans to can a few action sequences during the schedule. Director Ali Abbas Zafar has roped in Hollywod´s award-winning action director Tom Struthers to help with „Tiger Zinda Hai“. Struthers has previously worked on films such as X-Men: First Class, Inception, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and will choreograph the stunt sequences. „It will be very cold to shoot here, but Tirol is both an unexplored and a stunningly beautiful location. We love the challenge of shooting here. Together with Salman and Katrina we are planning to make „Tiger Zinda Hai“ bigger, bettern and grander than its prequel, with some terrific action sequences,“ a spokesperson for Yash Raj films, the producer of the film, said.

The joint efforts of Cine Tirol and Location Austria have made Tirol the filming site of the biggest Indian film production in Tirol so far.“ Although Austria has many locations advantages, it is often hard to come out on top against international competitors. In this case, too, it was a long and hard fight to get the film production to the Austrian Tirol. Finally, we succeeded and we couldn´t be happier right now,“ says Arie Bohrer, Filmcommissioner of Location Austria.

Innsbruck Tourismus Tourist Office supported the acquisition of this project from the beginning and contributes essentially to the shoot in the capital of Tirol. Together with the City of Innsbruck/Mayor Christine Oppitz-Plörer shooting permits for very unique locations like the Old Town and the Imperial Palace could be granted to the Indian filmmakers. Karin Seiler-Lall, CEO of the Innsbruck Tourismus Tourist Office is convinced about the filmtouristic potential of this production: „The breathtaking scenes shot in Innsbruck and its Holiday Villages will be seen by multimillions of moviegoers in India and worldwide thus attracting international visitors to the shooting locations of „Tiger Zinda Hai“.“

Other important partners were Creative Creatures/Ursula Keplinger, Reinhard Forcher and Andreas Payer, Robinville/Ishvinder Baba Maddh and FISA – Film Industry Support Austria/Juliane Buchroithner along with many other partners throughout Tirol, including local communities, tourist boards and mountain railway companies.

Johannes Koeck, Head of Cine Tirol Film Commission, is pleased about the shooting of „Tiger Zinda Hai“. „Since 1999, Tirol has been one of the Indian film industry´s leading locations in the European Alps. The diverse mountain landscapes across Tirol have made it the ideal place to shoot over 80 Indian movies and TV productions. „Tiger Zinda Hai“ marks another highlight in Tirol´s film location history and in our successful collaboration with Indian film productions. The team of Creative Creatures is especially challanged to organize the action and stunt scene shootings in the snowy mountains of Tirol. As Ursula Keplinger brings in a lot of value with her longstanding expertise in international film productions, we are convinced that all these challenges will be faced to the complete contentment of the Indian production company.“
