Environmental Certificate for Gradonna****s Mountain Resort
In-house energy production, environmentally friendly construction, and numerous sustainable initiatives in daily operations – since opening in 2012, Gradonna****s Mountain Resort has continually impressed its guests. This exemplary commitment to sustainability was recently recognized by TÜV Austria, which awarded the design resort the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Certificate.
ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized standard for certifying environmentally responsible businesses and represents efficient resource management on a global scale. In Austria, certification is granted by TÜV Austria and requires a documented, integrated, and actively implemented environmental management system. Gradonna****s Mountain Resort was recently added to the list of certified businesses – becoming the first hotel in East Tyrol to receive this distinction.
Sustainability as a Guiding Principle for Nature-Based Recreation
Located directly on the slopes of the Großglockner Resort Kals-Matrei, this four-star superior resort is renowned for its strong environmental focus. “The landscape and nature are our most valuable assets. But that’s not the only reason we prioritize eco-friendly practices – we are deeply convinced that this is the only path to long-term success. Our resort is not only car-free and equipped with ample charging stations for e-cars and e-bikes, but the energy required for hot water and bio-heating is also generated in-house,” says Maximilian Schultz of the Schultz Group, owner of Gradonna****s Mountain Resort.
ISO 14001 Certified
Thanks to its on-site wood chip plant, the resort processes wood in a CO₂-neutral manner, generating its own energy. It also partners with regional suppliers and, for example, uses waste heat from refrigeration systems to heat the swimming pools. ISO 14001 certification further underscores the resort’s environmentally responsible operations, optimized processes, and minimized risks – making its sustainability efforts even more visible to guests from around the world.
