Gender, Diversity & Inclusion in the Tyrolean Film Industry
The Cine Tirol Film Commission stands for professionalism, diversity and openness. Neutral and professional service is a matter of course for us. At the same time, we are aware that there is still much to be done both behind and in front of the camera.
Based on international and national industry standards and complementing the Green Filming initiative, Gender, Diversity & Inclusion are important topics in the Tyrolean film industry. Tyrol’s film landscape stands for professionalism, diversity and openness. Neutral and professional service is a matter of course for us.
We contribute to the further development of Tyrol’s film landscape with regard to diversity and equal opportunities by encouraging networking and sharing information, while also encouraging filmmakers and producers to reflect on sustainability, gender equality and diversity in their projects – whether in the allocation of positions or in the screenplay.
We strengthen cooperation with regional, national, European and international partners and actively participate in film festivals and industry events in order to make different perspectives visible and promote exchange within the industry.
We particularly support networking activities and developments that promote professional exchange, provide space for new impulses and make existing potential more visible.
Visibility and awareness-raising can contribute to encouraging discussion about diversity, equal opportunities and gender equality. A gender statistic included in our reporting enables us to make the gender distribution in projects receiving financial support from us visible. To ensure comparability, data on key positions in a production is collected statistically, based on the “Swedish calculation model” and the “Film Gender” model further developed by the Austrian Film Institute. Our focus is on the positions of director, producer, screenwriter and cinematographer. The aim is to provide transparent reporting on Gender & Film in Tyrol from 2026 onwards. The results can subsequently serve as a basis for measures and activities.
