Covid-19: What is important to consider during shooting?

The general COVID-19 measures as well as legal regulations shall be fully observed. Employee safety takes absolute priority.

The Austrian film associations, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, published a comeback work concept for filming in the field of film and television during the Corona crisis.

The concept was developed to be able to carry out professional filming again as quickly as possible. It is designed to create an internal procedure for safe shooting during the Covid 19 crisis, thereby minimizing the risk to cast and crew. Rescue Package for COVID-19-Related Interruptions and Delays in Shooting Films in Austria

Since Mid-June 2020, it is possible to apply for financial assistance for film and TV productions in which shooting had to be delayed or interrupted as a consequence of COVID-19. Assistance is available in the form of a grant of up to EUR 2.5 million per production to cover additional costs incurred.

In the case of international service productions funded by FISA (Film Industry Support Austria), this grant equals up to 50 percent of the additional eligible costs incurred in Austria due to COVID-19.
Applications can be submitted until 30 June 2022.

This appropriate measure enables Austria to underline its attractiveness as a film location, especially considering that Austria is one of the very first countries in the world to recognise the necessity of such an initiative to support the film and TV industry.
