Assistant Director

How did you get into film? What particularly attracted you to become part of this industry?

I was a film enthusiast from a very young age. It wasn’t until 2016, when my best friend Irina asked me why I wasn’t actually doing something like that, that I didn’t know the answer and asked myself the question for several weeks. When I decided to really get into this field, I attended a „film course“ here in Tyrol. The following year I wanted to study „film“ in Munich. Meanwhile I applied for an advertised 20h job at ARRI and was then offered a full time position to gain experience on a film set. One of them was DUNE Part one. During the last years I developed myself in directing and producing and now I am suddenly a producer. I have not studied until today.

What distinguishes Tirol as film region for you?

I never used to see Tyrol as a film country. I only knew the place „Lahnenberg“, from a great film series 😉.
But we have many talented filmmakers here. With the new funding, I see great opportunities. I am looking forward to the future of Tyrolean film.

We are curious: Tell us your favourite location in Tirol!

As I said, I never associated Tirol as a film country but for the projects I’m currently producing, I got to know Tirol with new eyes. There is not really a favorite location for me but I had a formative experience with Stefan Huber last year on Hundskopf when we shot a commercial. The project has cost me a lot of strength and overcoming but at the end of the day, I was a different person.

And now: The stage is yours! Please introduce yourselves and your field of activity.

Through ARRI and ARRI Rental, I was able to gain experience on various international films and series between 2017 and 2020. Whereby the word „experience“ is not accurate. They were experiences. Film is an experience. Not only when it is seen on the big screen, but also from the moment the idea is found. But back to the subject.
At that time I was working in the camera but also in the lighting department.

In 2021, after a personal break from the industry, I was asked by a director friend of mine if I wanted to do set recording on his art film „Living with SkyFrame“. We shot in Switzerland and since that day the fire in my heart burns again.
Because of my work on this project, I was recommended by the producer when a request came from Tanja Schmidbauer. The company I worked for during my „break“ immediately released me and I was allowed to prove my skills on the feature film „Wer gräbt den Bestatter ein?“ as a set recording manager.

Thanks to the IT-Team Tirol for your support.

After this film I met the Tyrolean filmmakers Stefan Huber, Mike Brunner and Peter Mader, with whom I and Chris Espen, who took me under his care at the time of the film course, were able to successfully realize several projects and still will.

Last fall I got excited about the low-budget horror film „Erbsünde“ and was allowed to work as assistant director, but also as director for some scenes. In the meantime I am co-responsible for the completion as a producer. Further projects with the director and producer Ahmed Chaer and his company are already in the works. With the wrestling promotion of the same name I was also accepted into the creative team.

Yes and now? Since I worked most of the time in Germany last year and unfortunately only a little in Tyrol, I met again with my director friend and we want to and will realize some projects in Tyrol or Austria. We want to show the world what we Tyrolean filmmakers are capable of. It’s worth it to shoot in Tyrol with our people!

If someone asks me what attracts me to this industry, it’s the people.

It doesn’t matter where that person is from, what gender, sexual orientation, religion, political affiliation, etc. Everyone has the same fire in their hearts as I do.
Everyone wants to make the project happen with great love for the film.
That’s the most fun 😉
